Disneyland!

For our final blog in our blog contest we are to research and give information about it. I am researching Disneyland!!  If you didn't know Disneyland was founded by Walt Disney himself. He wanted to make a place where dreams could come true and family's could spend quality time. He wanted flying elephants and giant teacups. He wanted a fairy-tale castle, moon rockets, and a scenic railroad. All inside the happiest place on earth, Disneyland. He had started off with only wanting 8 acres, but WWII stopped his idea's for his Magical Kingdom. This was a good thing for Walt because it gave him time to think more about Disneyland and showed him that 8 acres would not be enough!
On July 21, 1954, Disneyland was opened and was ready for the public! July 17 1955, Disneyland opens with 18 attractions, including the Jungle Cruise, Tomorrowland, Autopia, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, the Mark Twain and many more! The first day it was open 11,000 tickets were sent out, but since the tickets were so easily duplicated, so the attendance is close to about 28,145.
Today many people go to Disneyland and still have their family days. If it wasn't for one man and his small dream
to have a special place to take his to young daughters for a father daughter day. We wouldn't have Disneyland. As we know it today the happiest place on earth.

Presidential Election 2008

I'm not really into politics so I haven't been paying attention to really. So I can't really say who I want to win and don't want to win. With either one being elected  there will be consequences. Some may be good and some may be bad. I do think that America is falling into a crisis. I don't think we're going anywhere far and its getting worse slowly, but it is. Either way the president will have to make a decision which will probably make or break America. I can't say which guy will be better to for the job cause I haven't been paying attention to there debates, but thats my opinion so yeah.

Camp Sylvester

So on Wednesday and Thursday my whole school went on a camping trip to an amazing place! Camp Sylvester. When we left on Wednesday after the PSAT's, we were all totally excited! On the bus ride there we got lost in Modesto and finally found our way. We finally got there after a 4 hour ride and all settled in to the cabins. That night we had to put together things for our team and we had to do a skit. Next day me and my friend went fishing with our math teacher. We got up at 5 A.M. and left at 5:30. It took us about 45 minutes to get there. River and I were freezing! So we waited for the sun to come up and two of our friends helped us find our way back. We got to the main road and tried to find our camp site, but we got lost. We were walking through the wrong camp!!! After like an hour, hour and a half I was about to give up!! Fortunately Justin, our other friend, found the road right before I was about to turn back! We were totally stoked! We weren't totally sure if it was our camp but we heard the bell that the principal had told us about and we all just started running! River and I got to our cabin and stood by the heater for 10 min straight! Later we went to the same lake and walked all the way around. We went back to the camp and talked about what we like and who we got to know better than went home.
For the skit I was in for the night we got comedy. Poor cheryl couldn't talk very well so no one was listening to her so I had to tell the people in our group to be quiet and listen to everyone. Good thing they did 'cause cheryl had GREAT idea's! We had a movie star, her blonde agent and a body guard in mexico looking for the movie premier asking two Mexican's and all they can tell us about is the Chupacabra. Mason runs out as the Chupacabra. It was awesome!! Anyways that was our trip it was great!!

The Canning Season. The book I read.

I read the book the The Canning Season by Polly Horvath. It was a good book and had many good parts in it. A few things that I like about the book was that it had a good plot line. It started off well and while in the rising action. As the book goes it has some turns, you wouldn’t guess that would happen but it does happen. Other parts that I like about the story is that it had great explanations and descriptions of the characters. As the story moves through out its plot, some things change. In many parts of the story it goes back to the original situation. I like how the author made all the the characters individuals but somehow they could all come together and be friends.

Some things I didn’t like about the book were that it gave a little to much detail to everything. I also didn’t like how the author made the girls mom in the story so mean and hateful towards the girl, but i guess that is just what make the book what it is. Anyways to elaborate on how she gives to much detail, she explains almost every detail of every. Sometimes it was a good thing but she almost described everything so it made the story even longer than it should’ve been. It was a good book overall though.

Some of the things that I would change is maybe the book would be cool in first person, or subjective 3rd person. I would change some of the characters attitudes because they are to rude sometimes. I would change some of the events. I wouldn’t describe them as much. Even though she describes everything the story is still really good. Everything in the story wouldn’t be as good so I’m glad i can’t change anything.

Where I live

I live in a very small town in California. The town is called Oakhurst. In the town I live in there are some stores and one big high school, Yosemite High School. I go to Minarets. Its brand new and there is only one class. The freshman! Even though there are only 26 students, it's still a pretty awesome school. Our teachers are cool and the students seem to be liking it also. We are for sure a different kind of high school. Yosemite High is pretty big and fun and exciting, but I doubt that they have their own school e-mails, or their own laptops like the school I go to. I have had many people tell me I should go to YHS, but I'd rather go to the high school I'm going to. Anyways there isn't much more so I hope you enjoy reading this bye.

ME!

Well I'm Sarah but everyone in my class knows that. So anyways I love to play sports and always be active! I also love to act. It is one of my favorite things to do. I have a brother and I have 2 parents. My family is pretty cool but they do have their problems. Anyway I'm 14 almost 15 and a freshman. I have been to Amsterdam, Poland, and Belarus. They were pretty cool places! I want to go back to Belarus next summer. I also really want to visit Australia!! Anyways thats mainly me. I don't know what else to say.
